Learning To Take Care Of Your Sunglasses

Do you take care of your belongings? Or do you believe that you have goodies in plenty– it doesn’t matter if anything happens to any one of them?

Let’s talk about it straight! I was an avid collector of sunglasses and took pride in showing off all my pairs to my friends. I had several pairs of probably all kinds of sunglasses, while my friends just had one or two. It all happened because I was a shopping freak. Buying was my obsession and I couldn’t come out of it! I kept buying wholesale sunglasses and never bothered to take care of them. I knew, if one gets damaged, I have another one ready for me.

My dad often disapproved my erratic nature and then finally stopped my monthly bonus. I had to survive on almost a quarter of the amount I used to get earlier. It was then I learned many things in the toughest possible way. It was a crisis in my life – which taught me many things. My sunglasses were all damaged, broken, loose, cracked, dirty beyond repair and were not in an usable condition. With no pocket money and no family support I was helpless. The only thing that came to my mind was, why didn’t I take care of them?

Julie gifted me a new pair of designer sunglasses on my twentieth birthday. She taught me how to keep my sunglasses properly so that I don’t cause damage to them. I never even bothered to keep the sunglass cases for all my previous sunglasses. Now after every use, I made it sure that I replaced my sunglass in its case. The case was usually kept in the top most shelves, so that by no chance it fell down and broke. It has to be kept away from any kind of moisture and probable dampness as it could damage the lens of the glasses.

My previous sunglasses had all lose handles and often slipped. The only reason was that I didn’t take them off with both my hands. Now, I have learned that whenever we wear or take off our sunglass we should do it with both our hands. It gives the glass, the much required support. The most important maintenance tip of these sunglasses is that we should keep looking for any chance or scope of its sagging or getting loose. This should be tackled immediately and at once, so that major breakage and damage is avoided at an early stage.

Cleaning sunglasses is also important. We shouldn’t use any kind of cloth or material to clean the lens, as it can cause irreparable damage in the form of marks and scratches. Once scratches develop in these glasses nothing can be done. So, whenever you feel like cleaning your sunglasses, you can clean it with a soft cloth slowly and steadily. In most cases such a cloth is available with the sunglass, which is specially suited for cleaning the sunglass. The best option is to use such a cloth.
